WHAT IS VERSION 2.0?
Version 2.0 combines over 15 new features, plus all the intermediate
service packs.

HOW DO I GET VERSION 2.0? |

Version 2.0 systems are available from the Clovis warehouse starting Tuesday, 5/23/06. Just as a reminder, we have inventory stock that will not all be replaced with Version 2.0 as this is not a mandatory upgrade, it is a New Features Release. If you have a customer that wants Version 2.0 software in a new system, please make sure to specify such when you place your order with sales and they will enter a “Special” order with a comment to ship Version 2.0 software. There is no change in part numbers. As we run out of systems that have already been built with Version 1.1 software, new units will all ship with Version 2.0 software. We will notify you when this is the case so that you can discontinue using “Special” orders.
If you are looking for software to upgrade existing units, please order part number DX8000-V2. This is an upgrade kit that consists of a Version 2.0 Recovery CD, Version 2.0 Resource CD (supply client software etc) and upgrade instructions.
Keep in mind that all version 2.0 systems already include the new recovery CD, so if you are ordering a 2.0 system there is no need to order the upgrade kit separately.
Please keep in mind that this is an optional upgrade. If your customers units are running fine and provide all the functionality they require, there is no need to upgrade.

DOES THE HARDWARE NEED TO BE UPGRADED FOR VERSION 2? |
|
|

|
The new DX8000 Version 2 offers you many new features, some of which have settings that increase DX8000 DVR CPU usage. These settings do not cause CPU usage to exceed recommended levels.
However, so that we can provide the best in all our products, and in order to lower CPU cycles, all systems that ship with Version 2.0 will now be equipped with 768MB of total RAM. If you plan to upgrade existing systems, we recommend, though don't require, that you purchase and install part number DX8UP-512RAM. While this is an optional upgrade, it should improve the overall usability of the system.
If you are using the DX8000 upgrade kit to upgrade your existing DX8000 DVR servers to version 2.0, Pelco recommends that you first install the DX8UP-512RAM memory option. This upgrade does not take the place of the optional DX8000-256RAM upgrade that allows for up to 15 minutes of pre-alarm recording.

The storage estimator has been upgraded to account for the new “multi-event recording” functionality. Next time you start your estimator, please check for updates and install the most recent one. |
